Who Are The Famous Endomorphs?

To achieve physical fitness, you should train your body regularly, especially if you are an endomorph person. Endomorph bodies tend to store extra fat around the belly, while they gain weight quite easily. Therefore, staying in shape is rather challenging.

However, just because you fall into this category, it doesn’t mean you can’t have a toned and slim body.

There are a lot of famous endomorphs who managed to keep their weight in check and look spectacular. For example, think of Gerard Butler in “300” or Russel Crowe in “Gladiator.” Even though being endomorphs, these two managed to transform their body, due to a combination of exercises, diet, dedication, and hard work.

What is the endomorph body type?

Back in 1940, William Sheldon, an American psychologist, managed to come up with a classification system, which divided humans based on their body types, or so-called somatotypes. For this research, he used photos of thousands of people, who shared similar physical traits, and which helped him identify three main body types.

  • Ectomorphs – lean, long, and fine-boned people, with very little body fat
  • Mesomorphs – natural-born athletes, they can lose fat quickly, while gaining muscle with ease
  • Endomorphs – last but not least, endomorphs are usually stocky, short, and prone to weight, but also muscle gain

When we compare them to other body types, endomorphs feature shorter legs and arms, while having fuller hips, thighs, and upper arms, but also slender wrists and ankles. Due to their slow metabolism, this body type carries more fat than others. Instead of converting calories into energy, their body converts calories into fat, which is visibly stored in the lower portion of the torso.

However, there is a difference between male and female endomorphs, considering they store fat in different places. Men tend to have more muscle mass, due to their large frames, while women, on the other hand, feature wider hips because they need more room during pregnancy.

Therefore, men store fat around their bellies, while women around their hips. You will often hear that females are pear-shaped, while men are apple-shaped.

Do they gain muscle quickly?

If they apply proper dietary regimes and regular exercise, then they shouldn’t experience any issues in gaining muscle mass. Considering their bodies are prone to excessive weight, endomorphs should pay attention to carb intake.

Ideally, your daily intake of carbohydrates shouldn’t go over 30%, the rest, 70% should come from high-quality proteins and healthy fats. To speed up this process, you can lower down carb intake to 25%, while enhancing proteins and fats to 40%.

If you want to start training sessions, the combination of cardio workout and strength exercises should do the trick. The first one will burn calories, while the second one will shield your cardiovascular health, and prevent your body from turning calories to fat.

Many people wonder, can endomorphs get abs? Even though this might seem a bit unusual question, but with a bit of determination, regular exercise, and a clean diet, endomorphs can have them too.

However, you will have to find the best set of exercises suitable for your body type. You can start with a cardio workout, which can help you burn down calories and boost your metabolic rate. In a lot of cases, this should be enough for your abs to start showing.

Later you can strengthen your core by applying a set of different exercises, such as knee crunches, planks, and others.

With this body type, celebrities show us that they aren’t that different from ordinary people. For example, Ashley Graham, Chris Pratt, Tom Hardy, and many others struggled with weight at some point; some of them still do. But with proper diet and exercise plan, they’ve managed to control fat around their bellies.
